This November, Beatport Presents IMS Dubai will host the exclusive Middle East premiere of TAKKUUK, an ambitious new audio-visual project with acclaimed electronic duo BICEP that fuses electronic music with Indigenous voices from across the Arctic.
Created by EarthSonic and In Place of War, soundtracked by BICEP, TAKKUUK brings together artists from Greenland, Sweden, Norway, and Canada alongside visual artist Zak Norman and filmmaker Charlie Miller. The work reframes electronic music as a platform for cultural expression and climate storytelling, amplifying perspectives too often left unheard.
Each participating artist contributed their own histories, melodies, and creativity, blending traditional vocals, spoken word, and field recordings with BICEP’s signature production. The result is a sonic landscape that is both intimate and global, a conversation between tradition and technology.
At its core, TAKKUUK highlights the urgent realities facing Indigenous communities in the Arctic. By weaving together storytelling and soundscapes, the project calls attention to the fragility of cultures and environments under threat from the climate crisis. It ensures that Indigenous voices are not background influences, but central to shaping the narrative.
Following screenings in major cities worldwide, TAKKUUK will arrive in Dubai for its Middle East debut. Delegates will have the rare opportunity to experience TAKKUUK within the summit’s wider program of discussions on music, culture, finance, and technology. The TAKKUUK premiere will take place on Thursday, 13 November from 5:00 to 6:00pm at Cinema Akil, 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central. Entry is exclusive to IMS Dubai delegate badge holders.
