Hameed, also known as Meedy is a New York born, Afghan DJ/Producer & Founder of DESCENDANTS Records, the fastest growing Afro-Electronic event experience & music label based out of New York. Being a descendant of Afghan refugees, Meedy’s musical beginnings started at age 2, when his roots drew him to the Tabla drums which he played for 11 years and established his rhythmic foundation. He then began music production at age 13. In 2020, Meedy’s deep connection to Afro-Electronic music lead him to create a live-stream series partnered with Insomniac Events showcasing artists in Lisbon & Amsterdam. This eventually transformed into DESCENDANTS and what is now a flourishing global community. Having hosted events in New York, Johannesburg, London, Amsterdam, Nairobi & beyond, Meedy has booked and played alongside Afro House legends such as Caiiro, Shimza, MORDA, Kabza De Small & many others. His versatility as an artist & curator has lead him to play at renowned venues such as Fabric, Knockdown Center, Avant Gardner, Paradiso, Space Miami & events like Soulection, Balcony Mix, Piano People & features on Rinse & Soulection Radio.
