Joseph Pepin

Manager / A&R , PEPIN.WORKS / Primary Wave (US)

For Joseph Pepin, success can’t be boiled down just to the numbers. Which isn’t to say the long-time artist manager and A&R doesn’t have them. He’s helped musicians generate millions of listeners. He’s worked with artists who top the charts in the U.S. and abroad. Producers on his roster have worked GRAMMY-winning projects including helping the classical duo ARKAI, who won the 2026 GRAMMY Award for "Best Contemporary Instrumental Album” for their project Brightside, which Pepin A&R’d. But more than the metrics, what he loves most is finding the best path to a fully realized vision. What that means on a daily basis varies in ways that truly invigorate Pepin, who runs his international PEPIN.WORKS firm/consultancy out of Austin, TX. With a wide-ranging client list — from pop visionary Quadeca to textured soul purveyor GoldFord to rap architect Charlie Heat to Platinum-stacking songwriters Johan Lenox and Nate Donmoyer — he’s surveying the landscape of disparate genres from all angles. From his DIY origins in New Jersey’s punk scene, he’s honed his instincts as a curious listener and a savvy industry navigator across stints at Mercury Records and, later, a DJ-focused management co-op. Since going out on his own in 2016, Pepin’s woven these experiences into his practice. He’s willing to go to the mat for any of his clients, and his gilded ear comes into play through his work as an A&R consultant, which Pepin does both with his management roster and a variety of partners. He works closely with publishing company Primary Wave, who acquire/license iconic songs, embarking on deep-listening sessions through their vast trove and noting moments that might be ripe for reimagining. In ways, it’s a very different task, but the throughline is clear. He’s an omnivorous music fan with a passion for helping songs reach as many ears as possible.
