IMS Engage next pairing is Israeli DJ/producer, Guy Gerber, and music icon and mogul, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, will join IMS Engage in conversation on April 16 at the W Hollywood in Los Angeles.
The pairing of Guy Gerber and Diddy is particularly timely, as the unlikely duo, are set to release the long-anticipated underground house and techno album project ‘11 11’ next month. IMS Engage will host their exclusive conversation and shed new light on the mysterious project that has had industry tongues wagging throughout its four years of development.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is no stranger to electronic music, indeed he was one of the first hip-hop artists to embrace dance music, and has been making annual pilgrimages to Ibiza’s DC10 and Miami’s WMC for over 10 years. He has recorded electronic records with dance icons like Felix da Housecat, DJ Hell and Erick Morillo and released the much venerated album, ‘Last Train To Paris’.
Diddy’s partnership with Guy Gerber on ‘11 11’ was conceived four years ago, it’s fitting that the pair have chosen now to release this ambitious and surprising project. A journey through underground dance music, ‘11 11’ is a bold artistic statement at at a time when electronic music is being derided for its simplicity and commercialism, even as it grows ever more popular.
Guy Gerber is one of dance music’s most singular talents. Born in Israel, his emotive take on house and techno propelled him onto the world stage. Last year his subversive Wisdom Of The Glove residency at Pacha became one of the talking points of the Ibiza season, and he has since added residencies at Story in Miami and Marquee in NYC. His label Supplement Facts continues to demand attention for its impeccably off-kilter take on electronic music, and his new label, Rumors, launched with a collaborative track between Gerber and Dixon, promises to be an exhilarating new creative outlet.
Gerber and Diddy will join a “who’s who” of the film and music communities at this years’ IMS Engage, including Moby, David Lynch, Hans Zimmer, Junkie XL and Giorgio Moroder. Past participants with IMS Engage have included hip-hop impresario Russell Simmons, Ultra Music Founder Patrick Moxey, renowned music manager Troy Carter, the founder of Instagram Kevin Systrom and musicians Skillrex and Diplo.
