Before diving into conversations and keynote speeches, IMS presents the leading industry study released each year that provides vital and telling statistics of how the industry has grown and expanded in 365 days. For the first time, IMS is launching a new Chinese edition that focuses specifically on the country’s market to cater to both visitors and locals interested in truly understanding China’s electronic industry.

AFEM – ASSOCIATION FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRESENTS: GETTING IT RIGHT FIRST TIME

One of the primary goals of IMS China is to provide a platform for connection between China and the greater global industry. In the “AFEM: Getting It Right” panel, we invite top industry professionals from the UK, Europe and China to discuss with China’s own to learn and exchange ideas. Recognized speakers from outstanding artist management teams and achieving labels join together from both all junctions of the world to discuss the unique opportunities that are possible.

A hot topic that cannot be ignored at IMS China is the Great Firewall of China. With over 642 million people actively connected to the web in China, there is much to be learned about harnessing the enormous potential of the massive Chinese population and overcoming this enigmatic and often problematic issue. In this important panel, several knowledgable business industry professionals from Spinning Records, Beatport, Pulse Radio, and more join for a vital discussion about the ins, outs, and possible opportunities of the Great Firewall of China.

Exploring a young market requires research and tips from those who know it best. Local promoters of the Asia region explain the market, risks, obstacles, and most importantly, the possible potential for those interested in soon jumping into the Chinese electronic market.

Though electronic music in China is still in its beginning stages, there is growing sponsor and partnership opportunity for leading brands in the region to reach the massive youth population. Continuing with the theme, IMS China unites both the Western and Chinese perspectives to explore and discover where the most effective collaborations can be made.

IMS CHINA: ARTIST PANEL

Last, but definitely not least is the anticipated Artist Panel of IMS China. In partnership with Budweiser STORM Festival, IMS has invited premier international electronic music talent and places them alongside major Chinese artists. The West will learn from their Chinese counterparts about their market and the West will finally open the door to the once-mysterious landscape of China. This is a panel you can’t miss.

Valerie delivered a submission entitled “Save The Rave: Understanding the Intersection of the EDM Phenomenon and US Policy” where she examines US drug policy in relation to electronic music culture and calls to make a change for a better tomorrow.

An editor of Dancing Astronaut and a recent graduate of the University of Southern California, Valerie is a writer with a new media mindset. After winning the competition, Valerie has joined IMS as our Content Manager.

Bowler delivered a submission on “The Return to Music as a Shared Experience”. He explores the history of music with the aim of reframing the discussion on the future of the music industry to how we should expand into new areas of live experiences and brand partnerships.

He is a the young founder of Chew.TV, a live streaming community for DJ’s that allows artists to share mixes whilst building and engaging a global fanbase – offering users the chance to learn from professionals who are using Chew to broadcast from studios, educational facilities and events across the world.
